【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodisusedtodeterminetheresistanceofplasticstobreakagebyflexuralshockasindicatedbytheenergyextractedfromstandardized(seeNote0)pendulum-typehammers,mountedinstandardizedmachines,inbreakingstandardspecimenswithonependulumswing.Thistestmethodrequiresspecimenstobemadewithamillednotch(seeNote0).Thenotchproducesastressconcentrationwhichpromotesabrittle,ratherthanaductile,fracture.Theresultsofthistestmethodarereportedintermsofenergyabsorbedperunitofspecimenwidth(seeNote0).Note0Themachineswithpendulum-typehammershavebeenstandardizedinthattheymustcomplywithcertainrequirementsincludingafixedheightofhammerfall,whichresultsinasubstantiallyfixedvelocityofthehammeratthemomentofimpact.Hammersofdifferentinitialenergies(producedbyvaryingtheireffectiveweights),however,arerecommendedforusewithspecimensofdifferentimpactresistance.Moreover,manufacturersoftheequipmentarepermittedtousedifferentlengthsandconstructionsofpendulumswithpossibledifferencesinpendulumrigiditiesresulting(seeSection).Beawarethatotherdifferencesinmachinedesigndoexist.Note0Thespecimensarestandardizedinthattheyhaveafixedlengthandfixeddepth,however,thewidthofthespecimensispermittedtovarybetweenlimits.Onedesignofmillednotchisallowed.Thenotchinthespecimenservestoconcentratethestress,minimizeplasticdeformation,anddirectthefracturetothepartofthespecimenbehindthenotch.Scatterinenergy-to-breakisthusreduced.Becauseofdifferencesintheelasticandviscoelasticpropertiesofplastics,however,responsetoagivennotchvariesamongmaterials.Note0Cautionmustbeexercisedininterpretingtheresultsofthistestmethod.Thefollowingtestingparametershavebeenshowntoaffecttestresultssignificantly:methodofspecimenfabrication,includingbutnotlimitedtoprocessingtechnology,moldingconditions,molddesign,andthermaltreatment;methodofnotching;speedofnotchingtool;designofnotchingapparatus;qualityofthenotch;timebetweennotchingandtest;testspecimenthickness;testspecimenwidthundernotch;andenvironmentalconditioning.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note4ThisstandardresemblesISO179intitleonly.Thecontentissignificantlydifferent.
