【摘要】:Creepdatathatareobtainedoverarelativelyshortperiodoftimeinthistestmethodcanprovideameasureofanadhesivebondrsquo;abilitytowithstandstaticloadinginshearoverarelativelylongperiodoftime.Creepmeasurementsaremadeoverarangeofexpectedserviceconditions,includinglevelofstress,temperature,relativehumidity,anddurationofload.Creeprate,creepstrain,andcreepmodulusarecalculatedatthevariousserviceconditions.Creepdatacanbeusedto(1)predictperformanceofanadhesiveunderlong-termloading,(2)characterizeanadhesive,(3)compareadhesiveswitheachotherandagainstspecifications,and(4)designstructuralmembersfabricatedwithanadhesive.Time-to-failuredataprovideameasureoftheultimateload-carryingabilityofanadhesivebondasafunctionoftimeatvariouslevelsofstress,temperature,andrelativehumidity.Withpropercaution,time-to-failuredataderivedfromrelativelyshortloadingperiodscanbeextrapolatedtoestimatetheusefulservicelifeofanadhesiveatworkinglevelsofstaticstress.Thispropertymayalsobeusedwithcreepdatatoaccomplishpurposeslistedin4.2.Thistestmethodisaresearchtoolintendedfordevelopmentorevaluationofnewadhesivesandnewproductdesigns.Theresearchermayselectfromsuggestedteststhosethatareappropriate.However,creepandtime-to-failuretestsarenonroutineandcanbetime-consumingandexpensive,sotestsmustbeselectedwithcare.Theapparatusandproceduresmaybesuitableformeasuringcreeppropertiesofadhesivesonsubstratesotherthanwood,suchasmetal,plastic,andglass,butsuchconsiderationsarenotwithinthescopeofthistestmethod.FIG.1CreepTestApparatus1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftime-dependentpropertiesofstructuraladhesivesinwood-to-woodbondswhenspecimensaresubjectedtoshearingstressesatvariouslevelsofstaticload,constanttemperature,andrelativehumidity.Apparatusandproceduresareprovidedfordirectmeasurementoftime-dependentsheardeformation(creep)andtimetofailureofadhesivebondsunderstaticload.Guidelinesforselectingtestconditions,methodsforcalculatingcreeprate,creepstrain,creepmodulus,andextrapolationoftimetofailure,aregivenalongwithmethodsofpresentingthesedata.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsaregiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
